Emmaline Payne, Head of English, Literacy Coordinator

With a background in Educational Psychology and Linguistics, from the University of Hawaii, Emmaline spent a number of years as an EAL Coordinator in Southern California, earning her Master’s Degree. She then moved back home to the Washington DC area as an EAL curriculum specialist, creating and providing professional development workshops for Prince William County Schools.
She met her husband, an Oxfordshire Native, on a visit to the UK, and decided to stay. She has now joined us at the UTC as Literacy Coordinator and Head of English.

Iris Ferrier, Teacher of English, Teacher of German, SENDCo, Designated Safeguarding Lead,


Iris completed her BA in English at the University of London and gained a PGCE from the University of Bolton.  Whilst teaching English and German and supporting students through their IB, A Level, GCSE and Key Stage 3 programmes on the Isle of Man, Rome and Fleetwood, Iris continued with her own academic studies. This led to the completion of her MA Ed (Open University), with a focus on English as an additional language and special education needs, and her EdD (University of Sheffield) with a focus on linguistics and literacy.

Maddy Stretton, Teacher of English


After graduating from Bath Spa U After graduating from Bath Spa University with a degree in English, Maddy moved on to do her PGCE at the University of Bath. She has taught English in Wiltshire, Kuwait and Plymouth.
