Richard Noble OBE inspires Year 10 students

Richard Noble OBE, BLOODHOUND Project Director, continued his work 20160921_092314to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers today as he spoke to our Year 10 students.

Students were given an overview of BLOODHOUND SSC, a project to build a supersonic car designed to travel at 1,000mph. They will spend their first term working on the BLOODHOUND model rocket car challenge, which was introduced to them last week with a demonstration of some existing models.

We are extremely lucky to have Richard working here at the UTC and this enabled him to speak directly to the students for this unique insight.

Principal Owain Johns commented: “We are very grateful to Richard for taking the time to speak to our students today – it’s important that they understand the context of the project before they get started on their model rocket cars. It was a great experience for the students who took part in the project last year, so we are looking forward to running it again this term and seeing if anyone can beat the record.”
