John Kelly – Chair of Governors
John is currently the Director of Delivery for the Construction and Engineering Faculty at Activate Learning working over campuses in Oxford, Banbury, and Reading. He has worked as a teacher and then as an academic manager for over 20 years and has lived in Oxfordshire for over 30 years. John is a graduate of Oxford University and completed his teacher training at the City of Oxford College, part of Activate Learning.
Prior to becoming Chair of Governors, John was a sponsor governor at UTC Oxfordshire with oversight of Local Specialisms and he is a strong believer that technical education should always work closely with local stakeholders and employers to ensure we are producing the talented and skilled young people that our local and regional specialist and technical sectors need.
Billy McNeil – Vice Chair of Governors
Billy is currently the Director of IT, Operations and Transformation at BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. He has lived in Oxfordshire for over 30 years and has four children who have all been state educated in local schools. He worked for over 20 years at RM Education where he held several senior positions, and prior to this worked for Rover Group at Cowley. He is a graduate of Glasgow University and Warwick Business School.
Billy has been directly involved with UTC Oxfordshire since it was just a proposal, so has a long-standing affinity behind the purpose of the school and why it was built. He wants to see the UTC thrive as a place of focused, specialist education, meeting the needs it was set up to fulfil, and never being seen as an ‘ordinary’ secondary school.
