Women into engineering and science

UTC Oxfordshire is on a mission to help girls and young women in the local area get started on science and engineering career paths with a real future.

The UK economy will require 830,000 professional scientists, engineers and technologists – over 100,000 new professionals each year (to 2020).

 

 

The UK engineering and construction sector faces a shortfall of over 100,000 workers by 2050, due to skills shortages, an ageing workforce and forecast migration trends.

Despite women representing 46% of the UK labour force, women are under-represented in STEM, making up just 13% of those in STEM occupations.
