Justice Vivdych-Gapaka, South and Vale District Council

Justice took part in a week’s work experience with South and Vale District Council in June 2016, working in the Environmental Health department. She answered the following questions before completing her placement:

Chosen specialism at UTC Oxfordshire: Science

What was involved in the application process for your work experience placement? “I had to email my CV and fill out an application form, which led to an interview.”

What kind of work do you expect to be doing throughout your work experience placement? “I think I will be going out on visits to places where waste, i.e. rubbish, has been dumped and trying to find out who is responsible for this. Food inspection is another job that is also included.”

What are you looking forward to most about your work experience? “Going out on visits to see fly tipping and places that need inspecting, like tattoo studios or restaurants.”

Do you feel studying at UTC Oxfordshire has helped you with securing your work experience placement? “Yes, because I have learnt a lot about the environment at school in geography and especially more in detail in science.”

What do you hope to do after you leave UTC Oxfordshire? “I am not exactly sure what I would like to be after I leave school, but I like the idea of being a scientific journalist.”
