On Wednesday 28 November, UTC Oxfordshire held a busy Careers Showcase and Open Event for not only prospective students and their families, but also for those looking to meet local and national employers to discuss their career options.
The event, which ran from 5.30-7.30pm, sold over 300 tickets, giving visitors the chance to meet UTC Oxfordshire’s industry partners such as BMW Mini, Williams F1 and Oxford Space Systems, to discuss career paths and opportunities.
Prospective students and their families were able to tour the state-of-the-art facilities, take a look at the brand new cryogenics lab (and witness ice-cream making!) and take part in activities run by the departments, to get a feel for what studying at a UTC could be like.
UTC Principal, Owain Johns, ran a talk for both prospective Year 10 and Year 12 students. Both talks comprised of key information about how a UTC differs from a traditional school, its curriculum, current student’ work experience with industry partners, as well as information on how to apply. There was also a question and answer session at the end of the talks.
