Students celebrate A Level and technical results

UTC Oxfordshire’s Year 13 students are celebrating after picking up their A Level and Level 3 qualification results this morning, securing them places on prestigious degree apprenticeships and university places.

UTC Oxfordshire celebrated an overall pass rate of 94%.

At A Level:

  • 6% of all grades were A*/A
  • 29% of grades were A*-B
  • The average A Level grade was D+

Technical:

  • 64% of all grades were D*D*D*/DDD in BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Engineering
  • 83% of all grades being at least a Merit with 25% of students achieving the top grade of D*D*D in BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science

 Applied General:

  • 40% of all grades were D*D*/DD in BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Business

60% of students achieved A* in their Extended Project Qualification which demonstrates the ability of students to work independently on a research-based dissertation which prepares them well for higher education.

This year’s excellent results have once again secured UTC Oxfordshire students apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships with companies such as BMW mini, UKAEA (RACE), AWE, Dyson and STFC.

University continues to be a popular option at UTC Oxfordshire and this year our students have accepted offers to study at Loughborough, Brunel, Plymouth, Reading and Southampton.

Our vision is to ‘transform lives through learning’ and the journey our students have been on working alongside employers while at UTC Oxfordshire means they are extremely well prepared for the next step.

Headteacher at UTC Oxfordshire, Emma Reynolds, said: “I am incredibly proud of our students this year, with their technical results being notable, alongside their A Level and BTEC results. Their success reflects the hard work they have put in, not just during their time here, but especially in the face of challenges over the past few years. These results demonstrate their resilience, commitment, and the strong support network we have cultivated at UTC Oxfordshire. This year’s cohort has not only excelled in their vocational courses but has also secured places at some of the UK’s leading universities, apprenticeship programmes, and employment opportunities in industries aligned with their studies. We are thrilled to see so many of our students progressing to the next stage of their careers with confidence and ambition. The staff at UTC Oxfordshire have been instrumental in guiding and supporting our students, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to them for their dedication.”

Notable achievements include:

  • Sophia H, D*D*D, applied science, going on to University of Nottingham to study Biochemistry. Sophia, who will be celebrating her results with her friends later, said: “I’m so happy with my results; they have allowed me to get into my first choice university – University of Nottingham. I hope to research genetic diseases ultimately. My time at UTC Oxfordshire has been wonderful – I was supported so well by staff and made an amazing group of friends.”
  • Gabriel P, D*D*D*, BTEC Engineering, going on to Brunel University to study Engineering
  • Floyd R, D*D*D*, BTEC Engineering, as well, A Product Design, B Computer Science and B Further Maths, going on to a degree level apprenticeship with AWE to study Mechanical Engineering
  • Hannah W, D*D*D, BTEC Engineering, going on to Plymouth University to study Integrated Engineering. Hannah, who has prepped herself for getting her results with a Costa with friends, was very happy with her BTEC, saying: “My ambition is to be a mechatronic – robot engineer so these results make me happy I have been accepted at Plymouth University.” Later on Hannah is celebrating with her friends in Oxford and her family, who will take her out for a well-deserved celebratory meal.

UTC Oxfordshire students have all secured their next step on their career journey but we continue to offer information, advice and guidance to anyone who changes their mind or would like additional support after their post 16 studies.
